Supporting pharmaceutical and biotech programs from development through commercial manufacturing.
Neuland Laboratories is a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) focused on complex active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and peptides. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Hyderabad, India, the company partners with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations to support drug substance development and manufacturing from early-stage programs through commercial supply.
With a strong foundation in process chemistry, Neuland delivers integrated capabilities across route development, scale-up, analytical services, regulatory support, and cGMP manufacturing. The company serves both innovator and generic markets, combining scientific rigor with reliable execution.
Through long-term partnerships and a disciplined, quality-led approach, Neuland supports customers in addressing complex chemistry challenges while ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance across global markets.
Neuland's businesses span generic APIs, complex small molecules, and peptides — supported by scientific rigour, scale-up capability, and manufacturing reliability.

Development, scale-up, and manufacturing of complex drug substances, supported by strong process chemistry expertise—ensuring efficient scale-up, consistent quality, and reliable supply across global regulated markets.
The principles that guide every partnership, process, and decision we make.
Our Vision
We are creating a healthier world through sustainable practices, trusted partnerships, and agile collaboration.
Our Values
Neuland is named after Reverend Julius Aloysius (Athur) Nieuwland (1878-1936) an inspirational scientist at the University of Notre Dame, USA. He is known for his contributions to research into acetylene and its use as the basis for a type of synthetic rubber, which led to the invention of neoprene by DuPont.
His work inspired our chairman Dr Davuluri Rama Mohan Rao, who studied organic chemistry at the University of Notre Dame, to start his own business and name it after the Reverend Nieuwland.
At Neuland, sustainability and responsibility are embedded into our business strategy and day-to-day operations. As a trusted drug substance CDMO serving global regulated markets, we recognize that long-term success depends on creating value not only for our customers, but also for our employees, communities, and the environment.
Our approach focuses on reducing environmental impact through responsible resource management, energy efficiency, waste minimization, and compliance-driven manufacturing practices. We continuously invest in technologies and operational improvements that support sustainable growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Equally important is our commitment to people. We strive to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering workplace, support the development of our employees, and contribute positively to the communities in which we operate through meaningful social initiatives and responsible business practices.
Strong governance forms the foundation of our sustainability journey. Through ethical conduct, transparent decision-making, risk management, and robust compliance systems, we uphold the trust placed in us by customers, employees, investors, and other stakeholders.
As sustainability expectations continue to evolve across the pharmaceutical value chain, Neuland remains committed to building a more resilient, responsible, and future-ready organization.

Development and manufacturing of complex peptides using solid-phase and solution-phase synthesis—supporting programs from early development to commercial scale with strong process control, scalability, and compliance.
From 2004-2013 we strategically aligned our business towards niche APIs and custom manufacturing solutions. We began operating in the USA in 2004 and opened a subsidiary in Japan in 2007. Our dedicated research & development center opened in 2008 and our manufacturing facilities passed an EDQM audit in the same year, swiftly followed by PMDA Japan and our first new chemical entity (NCE) approval.
From 2014-2021 we branched into specialty API manufacturing. We organically grew our custom manufacturing solutions business by focusing on biotech companies. Our R&D facility was approved by the USFDA, and we focused on uninterrupted supply and quality.
Since 2022 we have further strengthened our CMS capabilities and capacities, growing our reputation as a partner for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. We have built our GDS product pipeline with a focus on technology differentiation including peptides.
In 1986 we achieved our first API sale of salbutamol sulphate and albuterol sulphate. In its tenth year Neuland went public, and in 1997 we were successfully audited by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for the first time.
